A Week in NYC that Rumble Kongs Won’t Forget
RKL IRL & The Rumble Kong Cinematic Trailer Release!
This June’s NFT.NYC event was scheduled earlier in the year following the same event in November 2021. Whether it was the influence of covid or the eagerness to get the Web3 community back together, what a difference 8 months can make!
In November, RKL founder, Nickev, was present at NFT.NYC and there were a handful of community members in the crowds, however, there was a conspicuous lack of recognition for gaming applications in the NFT market. Part of the reason for this is that good games take time, a lot of it.
NFTs used as collectibles, art, or membership clubs all have their benefits but the reality is that gaming applications of NFT technology require the most resources to build out and are arguably the most dependent on talented teams.
The founders of the RKL understand these factors first hand and that’s why this June’s event in New York will be so much more meaningful for everyone in the RKL community. In just the last eight months the RKL has delivered on multiple key priorities including:
Announcing $4.5 million dollars of strategic fundraising with partners like CAA Sports, JDS Crypto, Animoca Brands, IDEO CoLab, and Framework Ventures
Forming a dedicated development team with a AAA gaming studio
Adding multiple RKL team members including community manager, business development, designers and engineers
Executing a successful on-chain auction for the first 50 of 300 official league Clubs sold at ~12.3 ETH each
Frequent release of game development progress reports including imagery of the game and community-driven adjustments based on feedback
Announcement of the vision of “Athlos” which is the metaverse location envisioned by the RKL team where the Rumble Kong League competitions and culture thrive
And now, with NFT.NYC in its sights, the RKL team will deliver once again by holding a special event at the Loft and Garden rooftop at Rockefeller Center (one of New York’s most sought-after outdoor event spaces) to celebrate all of the progress made so far and unveil its first cinematic game trailer.
Like everything that the RKL does, this event will be executed with quality and community in mind. The team partnered with TokenProof (as shared in this Tweet) to ensure a secure and convenient means of kong NFT ownership verification to be admitted to the event. This is the same service used by projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club for its Apefest event.
The community has been buzzing even during the macro-market-misery because they see the RKL continue to build and execute regardless of the current market conditions. Dozens of kong holders and fans have already confirmed they will be travelling from around the globe to attend the RKL event and participate in meetups with fellow kongs in NYC.
The RKL NFT.NYC event is open to all with priority given to verified holders of RKL NFTs. Here are the details:
