Welcome to the 2nd installment of The Rebound! This issue is going to be a little different as we are asking for community feedback in the game development process. We’ll share a first look at some of iLogos’ early Kong/Stadium Designs and ask you for feedback in which design you like best.
TL;DR
We have 10 Kong designs to share with you and want your input in choosing which is preferred

Our first stadium mockups were designed with Roman Coliseums and interstellar arenas in mind. iLogos captured that ambiance perfectly and we are already working to combine them into one succinct RKL Arena.
The RKL team is doing a casual Twitter Spaces tomorrow (Nov 18) at 2pm ET / 11am PT
Community Shout Outs:
iLogos Preview
The last month of work with iLogos has been centered around two things:
The Core Game Loop
Look and Feel
We’re excited about our solutions for the core gameplay and believe we have the blueprint for a sustainable game economy. Those decisions deserve their own post and you’ll hear about them another day. However, we’ve reached a crossroads over the look of the game and wanted to reach out to the community to get your feedback on this decision.
We’re going to share some early first sketches with you and ask for your help in making this giant vision a reality.
We need your help!

As you all know, RKL is going to be a 3D game. However, almost every game you’ve ever played starts with sketches. Discussing over 2D drawings, rather than rendering every possibility into a fully fledged mockup allow the game developers to waste less time and iterate faster. Once all parties agree on the look and feel of the sketches, they are quickly rendered into 3D and integrated into the game.
Here is our narrowed down list of 10 possible Kong designs.
As we finalize our full-body Kong design, we want to hear from the Kong Community.
Which design do you like best?
What would you change to make your dream Kong?

Internally, the team is split and while the majority like Kong #5, there is a lot of ongoing debate for other designs as well.
Also, don’t worry if your favorite design isn’t chosen! We’ve spoken to iLogos about implementing multiple designs as reflections of a Kong’s unique boost stats. For example, if your Kong has above average defense, its arms could be bigger and longer like Kong #9 even if our final Kong design style is #6.
Simulated Next Steps
To show the community how fast the game can come alive, we’ve asked iLogos to simulate the next steps of the game design process. Hypothetically, let’s say the community lands on Kong Design #4. iLogos will mockup a 3D render and start experimenting with different looks it can have in world.
While this is a your first look at what a Kong can look like in game, remember this is NOT our finalized design nor is it exactly what any rendered design will look like. We’re trying to strike the tough balance of keeping Sick’s art as well as the customizability that is needed for a true metaverse avatar.
We’re also thinking through in-game customizations that your Kong can have!
All of us have different parts to our identity and the sides we choose to showcase in our avatar is fluid over time. Your Kong should be able to represent you on the Court, at work, in a classroom or even just walking down the street. We’re still working on making sure that we stuck the right balance between being true to the NFT and giving each Kong Holder the flexibility to authentically represent themselves.
While we’re exploring different ways to visualize Kongs within the game, it is important to us that the core NFT/pfp remains true to mint and that we do not devalue any unique NFT.
We hope this exercise helps you understand a little more about the game development process and understand the speed at which finalized assets can be created once we nail down the look and feel of the RKL.
Stadiums
Now that we’ve seen what Kongs can look like, we have to see where they’re going to play.
The aim of RKL is to create the multiverse’s version of SpaceJam. But instead of Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo and the Iron Giant coming down to watch the big game. We envision a world where CryptoPunks, Bored Apes, Kongs, or any other avatar NFT can pick up the ball and battle it out. The RumbleKongLeague will be the place where all people, avatars and the metaverse can come together for epic basketball games. To realize this, we’ve taken inspirations from two completely different genres: Roman Coliseums and Sci-Fi Arena
We’ve already begun working with iLogos finding a bridge between these two ideas.

Twitter Spaces
Unlike most announcements we’ll drop in The Rebound, this issue is more about starting a conversation with the community rather than sharing our full fledged product. In that spirit, the RKL team is hosting a twitter spaces tomorrow (Nov 18) at 2pm ET / 11am PT. Come by and chat with us about Kong designs, how you’re going to flex on your in-laws with RKL swag over Thanksgiving or anything else that’s on your mind!
That’s all I have for you this week. Tag us and share your thoughts on Twitter with the hashtag #WhichKongAreYou. Make sure to join the RKL Discord to continue the conversation and as always Follow us on Twitter for the lastest news about the RKL.
