Rumble Kong League partners with iLogos Game Studios for game development
The external development partner of Supercell, EA, Ubisoft, Disney, and more will work on bringing the Rumble Kong League game to life.
We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a development agreement with iLogos Game Studios to help us bring The Rumble Kong League to life.
iLogos Game Studios is a full-cycle development and game production studio that has worked with publishers including Supercell, Ubisoft, EA, Disney, and many more. They have over 14 years of experience in the industry, working with over 400+ successful game projects, with a combined 1B+ game installs. Their expertise lies in deep collaboration with IP holders and translating complex game visions into AAA gaming experiences.
As you will read below, this is just the beginning of RKL and where the project is heading. We can’t wait to share the other topics we have been hard at work solidifying including our brand new website, clubs, staking, and a whole lot more.
Very soon we will be announcing further partners joining the RKL with vast sports, entertainment, and gaming industry experience. We are just getting started!
So what does this mean exactly for RKL? Below you find everything you need to know!
Tl;Dr:
Work on the Rumble Kong League game has begun.
Met with 10 external development studios and nobody could hold a candle to the experience the iLogos team has for what we needed, stressing the NFT experience and RKLs long-term goals.
The RKL team maintains 100% ownership and has the final word on all development matters, together with Kong holders/community.
The current status is pre-production, the focus is nailing down economics, core game loop, and the game's look & feel.
The game will be 3D, initially Web-based with a mobile version following.
The first playable version is expected in early 2022, with a full release planned in the same year.
Regular Dev Diaries will follow, as well as deep involvement of the community in development decisions, design direction, and more.
We will be fully transparent throughout the entire process and involve the community in the full development cycle. Some questions you may be asking:
What is an external developer?
External development means that a dedicated team, with extensive experience in game development, is managing the production of the game, art, and core gameplay concepts. This approach is an agile solution for IP holders without having to hire internal staff initially, which as we know from experience requires numerous skilled key hires.
As you may know, we are a founding team of four people, each with an extensive background that helped us to initially launch Rumble Kong League.
Marcus aka "direkkt" - working in game Publishing & Marketing since 2008, including Blizzard, Wargaming, and most recently The Sandbox.
Naz Vavryk aka “Naz” - CTO and Co-founder at reNFT, which recently raised a 1.5M USD seed round. Previously quantitative developer at London-based hedge funds.
Nick Vale aka "Nickev" - Co-founder at reNFT and creator of Total Miner:Forge (#1 best selling Xbox Live Indie Game of all time) as well as Miner of Duty (#3 best selling XBLIG), and previously at The Sandbox.
Sickpencil aka “Sickpencil” - Renowned artist behind the unique look of the Kongs, Sneakers, and several 1/1 art pieces on- and off-chain.
We are in the process of growing the core team, but we consider ourselves having the necessary skills and experience to drive a major part of the project. But when building Rumble Kong League it is important for us that we don’t just apply Web3 to proven game mechanics and hope they make sense. Instead, we engage and work with the necessary talent to build a high-quality game that can be enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.
When it comes to choosing the right partners it is important to make sure the expectations are well set, the vision is clear, and that the teams have a good understanding of gaming, NFTs, and long-term goals. Previous experience from working with multiple external development teams over many years also helped to avoid some pitfalls and spot potential risks early on.
Why iLogos Game Studios?
We believe that in order to innovate the gaming industry, we must build engaging gameplay with Web3 as the foundation while bringing relevant and new features to this space. RKL is not meant to just be a basketball game - we want to be so much more. Kongs, Clubs, Leagues, Tournaments, Play to Earn,... All this is not easy to build and takes time to execute properly.
We met with around 10 external development teams and shared our goals of Rumble Kong League and what we are building. Our scope is big, our vision even bigger. RKL is not just a game to us, but a brand that we envision to be around for generations to come. RKL is a lifestyle.
iLogos has experience in translating complex concepts into quality games and has shown that they understand this vision, by helping known publishers build multi-million dollar games across all platforms. They understand NFTs and have experimented with them in-depth already. They understand gaming, and they just get it.
Based on the existing track record and multitude of genres developed by iLogos, even with their lack of sports-related titles, we are confident that they can deliver a AAA 3D sports gaming experience across multiple devices in conjunction with us.
This partnership kicks off the first of many brands and strategic partners entering the league. We are in extended discussions with several external partners, and will soon be talking more about this soon. This is just another perk of retaining control of the actual RKL IP.
The works on RKL have already started with the pre-production of the game, meaning that the current focus is around the core game mechanics, economics, as well as the overall look & feel. The vision from our whitepaper remains the same, with an engaging 3D game built for Web initially, followed by mobile.
We expect the first playable version of the game in early 2022 and plan to release a full version in the same year. More details in our upcoming roadmap 2.0, releasing soon.
Why not work with Publishers like EA, Blizzard, etc. directly?
We saw a lot of comments on socials and inside our community with assumptions around major publishers. For us, it was important to keep ownership of the RKL IP and having the final word in all matters. Going with an established publisher would mean sacrificing some of this flexibility, which is something that we are not interested in at this time. There are clear advantages in going with a publisher, however, in our case, the cons outweigh the pros.
In order to drive the RKL vision while involving all Kong holders as closely as possible in the process, the traditional publisher route is simply out of the question. This is Web3 after all and we are strong advocates for TRUE ownership.
What’s next?
We want to be as transparent as possible with all of you. We will be doing regular dev diaries, share progress, teasers, work-in-progress images, and gain your feedback throughout. Existing Kong holders especially will be heavily involved in some game decisions but all of you will be involved in one way or another.
This is just the beginning of RKL and where the project is heading. We can’t wait to share the other various topics we have been hard at work solidifying including our brand new website, clubs, staking, and a whole lot more.
As mentioned previously, very soon we will be announcing a group of partners joining the RKL with vast sports, entertainment, and gaming industry experience. We are just getting started!
In the meantime, you know where to find us, ask questions, and let us know what you think! We all make up the RKL together and can’t wait to build something dope with all of you!
About Rumble Kong League
Rumble Kong League is an NFT Collection, consisting of 10,000 unique ERC-721 tokens, following the programmatically generated trends of CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and various others. Each token has been randomly assembled out of a list of 100+ hand-drawn traits, creating a unique-looking basketball player in the Kong style.
We are combining various popular features from the blockchain, and gaming industry, such as collectibles, social avatars, algorithmic gameplay, play-to-earn functionality, and highly brandable content. Rumble Kong League is taking these features, combining them with their own vision, and thus creating a next-generation sport-based universe of playable NFTs, backed by a digital value.
